A GDPR Specialist, often referred to as a Data Protection Officer (DPO), is responsible for ensuring that an organization complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Key responsibilities typically include:
Advising on compliance with GDPR and local data protection laws.
Monitoring adherence to data protection policies and procedures.
Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to identify and mitigate risks.
Serving as a point of contact for data subjects and regulatory authorities.
Managing data processing records and ensuring transparency in data handling.
Providing training and awareness programs for staff on data protection practices.
Responding to data breaches and ensuring proper reporting to authorities.
Collaborating with IT and legal teams to implement privacy by design principles.
