Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Hotel Captain to join our team. The Hotel Captain will oversee the smooth operation of the hotel's dining areas, ensuring that guests receive impeccable service and enjoy a memorable dining experience. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of dining room staff, including servers, bussers, and hosts/hostesses, to ensure efficient service and guest satisfaction.
Lead pre-shift meetings to review daily specials, menu changes, and service expectations with the dining team.
Monitor dining room flow and manage seating assignments to maximize occupancy and minimize wait times.
Assist guests with menu selections, dietary restrictions, and special requests, providing personalized recommendations and attentive service.
Resolve guest complaints or concerns promptly and effectively, taking appropriate action to ensure guest satisfaction.
Train and mentor dining room staff on service standards, etiquette, and guest interaction techniques.
Conduct regular inspections of dining areas, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with the culinary team and restaurant management to maintain menu knowledge, coordinate food and beverage service, and facilitate smooth transitions between courses.
Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, process payments, and reconcile daily sales reports.
Act as a liaison between guests and hotel management, communicating guest feedback, preferences, and special requests to relevant departments.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a fine dining restaurant or upscale hotel environment.
Extensive knowledge of food and beverage service techniques, wine pairings, and menu offerings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with guests and motivate team members.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Proficiency in POS systems and other restaurant management software is a plus.
Certification in food safety and responsible alcohol service is preferred.
