Job Description:
As a Metallurgy Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of metallic components through meticulous testing and analysis. Your responsibilities will include:
- Compliance Management:
- Ensure all work adheres to ISO 17025 requirements for testing and calibration laboratories.
- Metallurgical Failure Analysis:
- Conduct thorough failure analyses on metallic components, both ferrous and non-ferrous, and compile comprehensive investigation reports detailing technical findings.
- Mechanical Testing:
- Perform mechanical tests to evaluate material properties and qualify weld procedures according to international standards such as ASME, API, AWS, and BS.
- Tests include tensile, impact, Nick-Break, bend, macro examination, CTOD, and others.
- Corrosion Testing:
- Conduct corrosion tests following NACE standards and project specifications to assess material susceptibility to corrosion under various service conditions.
- Metallographic Examinations:
- Perform metallographic examinations on various materials to determine grain size, cleanliness, volume percentage of phases, and general microstructure evaluation.
- Client Coordination:
- Coordinate with clients and third-party witnesses regarding testing details and ensure clear communication throughout the testing process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in metallurgical testing and analysis, preferably in an industrial or laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of international standards such as ASME, API, AWS, BS, and NACE.
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 requirements for testing and calibration laboratories.
- Proficiency in conducting various mechanical and corrosion tests.
- Experience in metallographic examinations and failure analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and third-party witnesses.
