Estimation Engineer

An Estimation Engineer is essential in the construction industry, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for building projects. This role involves analysing project requirements, materials, labour, and other costs to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
➢ Review Project Documents: Analyse construction specifications, architectural drawings, and other relevant documents to understand the project's scope and requirements.
➢ Conduct Quantity Take offs: Perform detailed material take offs to quantify all necessary materials and labour required for the project. This includes creating a bill of quantities that outlines all components needed.
➢ Estimate Costs: Calculate direct costs (e.g., materials and labour) and indirect costs (e.g., overhead and equipment depreciation). Develop comprehensive cost estimates using various methods such as unit cost estimation and bottom-up estimating.
➢ Prepare Budgets: Develop detailed project budgets that incorporate all estimated costs, including contingencies for unforeseen expenses. Ensure that budgets align with client expectations and project goals.
➢ Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors to refine estimates and gather necessary information. This collaboration is crucial for understanding project specifics and constraints.
➢ Stay Informed on Market Trends: Keep up-to-date with changes in construction materials, techniques, pricing trends, and local building codes to provide accurate estimates that reflect current market conditions.
Qualifications
➢ Education: A degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is typically required.
➢ Experience: Previous experience in construction estimating.
➢ Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy in the estimation process.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex data and make informed decisions regarding cost estimates.
